I do think the easy access to guns makes it physically and mentally easier for the perpetrators to commit the murders. If all the guns in the world magically evaporated overnight, men would still find ways to destroy their families, but there might be a better chance of escaping and surviving. I would disagree with one thing you posted, or perhaps implied: it’s a gun issue. Shooting your kids because your wife is leaving because you are a control freak is not a gun issue. As you point out, it’s a mental health issue. It’s an education issue. It’s a social protection/family court dysfunction issue. (Not that I’m crazy about guns, but setting that issue aside).

It’s basically the familiar equivalent of the workplace shooter or the school shooter: same motivation, control and revenge.
